Styling and themes
I removed most of the typography additions as it take over the styles of the chose theme (I use MinervalNewe that has a very cool default styling).
I think the user’s default themes choice should take over the CSS, and I would also remove the colors but as It doesn’t interfere with my theme, I don’t.
Let me know if it can be improved, for example by adding the theme’s class before headings. Raphael (talk) 12:41, 31 January 2024 (CET)
MediaWiki:Common.css styling overwrites everything, every theme, for every user. It is supposed to be used for styling specific snippets such as infoboxes, badges or custom snippets. Here for example Wikipedia.com Common.css page. There are however .css pages for every skin installed on the wiki, where we can provide specific styling for every skin, for example
Also, if we enable
$wgAllowUserCss
in theLocalSettings.php
file, every user will have its own Common.css + theme specific style sheet in order to test out styles, or add specific readability rules if one is in need (color blindness, dark mode enthusiast, etc. ...). More infos here ! (I'm not saying we need or not to add that feature, just wanted to add my two cents).
