We're contacting you to invite you to the next PPPrototypes workshop, organized by PrePostPrint. It will take place at Césure (Censier, Paris) on Saturday January 20 and Sunday January 21, 2024. The "PPPrototypes" workshop followed a previous edition that took place September 2021, and it was held at La Générale (Paris 14th) over two days, on April 30th and May 1st, 2022. The workshop aimed to develop prototypes of digital tools and editorial objects. ==== Présentation du projet ====
PrePostPrint est un collectif de designeur·ses qui partagent un intérêt pour les techniques et outils non conventionnels de production d'éditions. Nos recherches gravitent autour de la culture libre et adhèrent à ses principes (partage des connaissances et des outils, documentation de la production, mise en commun). Les objectifs de PrePostPrint sont l'expérimentation et la documentation de méthodes et de formats singuliers ainsi que rassembler des personnes et engager des échanges avec une communauté d'intéressé·es.

PrePostPrint a déjà organisé des événements et des workshops au sein de lieux culturels et pédagogiques, qui ont suscités un grand intérêt. Pour cela nous souhaitons réitérer l'expérience à la Générale, qui serait un lieu idéal de rassemblement et de production.

Pour les déjeuner de samedi et dimanche, nous mettrons à disposition de quoi faire des sandwiches et des salades pour ne pas perdre trop de temps et respecter les bourses et régimes de chacun·es. Une cagnotte à prix libre servira à ces déjeuners ainsi qu’aux apéritifs et goûters.

Nous vous invitons à ramener une copie de vos ouvrages réalisés en web-to-print ou avec des systèmes maison / open-source / alternatifs. PrePostPrint est un collectif de designeur·ses qui partagent un intérêt pour les techniques et outils non conventionnels de production d'éditions. Nos recherches gravitent autour de la culture libre et adhèrent à ses principes (partage des connaissances et des outils, documentation de la production, mise en commun). Les objectifs de PrePostPrint sont l'expérimentation et la documentation de méthodes et de formats singuliers ainsi que rassembler des personnes et engager des échanges avec une communauté d'intéressé·es.

PrePostPrint a déjà organisé des événements et des workshops au sein de lieux culturels et pédagogiques, qui ont suscités un grand intérêt. Pour cela nous souhaitons réitérer l'expérience à la Générale, qui serait un lieu idéal de rassemblement et de production.

I removed most of the typography additions as it take over the styles of the chose theme (I use ''MinervalNewe'' that has a very cool default styling).

I think the user’s default themes choice should take over the CSS, and I would also remove the colors but as It doesn’t interfere with my theme, I don’t.

PPP shares news on projects made with free software/hacked/DIY tools, tries to highlight alternatives approaches to the classic publishing workflows, and promotes sharing, documentation and the use of open licenses in these fields. PPP also tries to relay open calls, events, workshops or conferences, so please get in touch if your interests resonate and share the word!
PPP is currently evolving / under construction. After a recent reactivation during three days at Varia in Rotterdam, we hope to continue the adventure here, in online forms and IRL gatherings. Thanks to the folks of post.lurk.org for an account on this instance!

Once again, the maintainer's group met together to work on PPP over two days. They travelled from France and Belgium to Varia in the south of Rotterdam for an unconference style meetup. Within an open programme, many others joined to think along on what PPP has been, is, and could be. Which created a great dynamic and mix of people closer and more familiar to PPP and others who were new to it. We played music from a rotating selection of cassette tapes while revealing our "hidden agendas" for the meetup.

On the first day one group worked on questions around the PrePostPrint website and another on how to be a part of PPP in the communication channels being used on Matrix. We finished the day with a demonstration of tools and projects such as coline, OSPKit, pagetypetoprint, myfffonts, a small bash tool called "now", Vinnyfont, <nowiki>https://velvetyne.fr/</nowiki>, the Walkie Talkie XPUB grad catalog, <nowiki>https://digestingcare.eu/</nowiki> + printed booklets, Spectres of Learning + Chattypub, ssh-warm-welcome, octomode.

On the second day we were joined by more people in collective conversations around the idea of a PPP wiki, the political orientations of F/LOSS publishing tools, a local PPP group in the Netherlands and a call for new maintainers. We finished they day again with a request for more demo's, which included distribusi''',''' P birds stickers, p-chaumont vectors, plancton, wiki-to-print/wiki2print/wiki-to-pdf, and some self aclaimed "dumb demos".

* it's good for the moral to see each other

* has been a long time for luuse to meet others, very rich moment

* good to share frustrations and stories when working with publishers, happy to not feel alone here, it's not our fault, it's just the way it is when exploring things

* available to translate English to French for PPP things

* happy that after 6 months talking/thinking about a wiki, we managed to set it up in 1.5 day; it's running and it's yellow, let's use it, let's see where it leads us

* we didn't talk about the hidden agenda of an event in Brussels, but with connection now to Luuse and through Simon with OSP, hopefully the links will continue to strengthen and this will take place some time some day, i'm quite confident

* main purpose was to get inspired about the tools being used, happy to meet everyone, very nice
